Hair transplant surgery is not without its risks. Unfortunately loss of hair continues after the procedure, and often exposes the scars created during surgery. Depending on the type of procedure you had, these could be ‘strip’ scars caused by FUT surgery, ‘dot’ scars resulting from FUE, or even ‘plug’ scars from historical procedures carried out before modern techniques took over. Generally speaking, scalp micropigmentation can be used to cover all head scars including FUT and FUE scars in the ‘donor’ area, and also any pitting, ‘plug’ or ‘cobblestone’ scars in the recipient area. We can even hide very aggressive scars after scalp reduction procedures, burns or neurosurgery.
Very recent scars are difficult to camouflage as the tissue causes pigment deposits to rapidly fade or spread. As a general rule for the best results, scars must be at least 6-9 months old before they can be effectively treated using scalp micropigmentation.
How well we are able to hide your hair transplant scars depends on a number of factors, and it is important to note that scar camouflage is a highly individual and detailed process. The age, colour, texture, position and shape of your scars all determine how we approach your treatment, and the level of concealment we’re likely to achieve for you.
